Twelve years ago, leaders within the UIC College of Nursing along with its Alumni Board of Directors and the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International envisioned the inaugural Power of Nursing Leadership Event (1998) to celebrate the strong nurse leader cadre in this state and the many sectors in which they practice. Inspired by the leadership of our alumni, as well as our academic, health systems, government and corporate partners, our primary goals were to gather highly influential nurse leaders in our state and to spotlight their collective influence and dedication to health care in Illinois.
The event has grown exponentially to become the premier gathering of the most innovative nurse leaders from academia, health systems, government, entrepreneurship, and business. As you can see on this website, we trace the history of how we have celebrated and who we have especially honored through our prestigious Illinois Outstanding Nurse Leader Award, the SAGE awards and now, the Pinnacle Leader Spotlight!
