I genuinely hope to see you at our 2008 11th Annual Power of Nursing Leadership Event – with the theme of “Envision, Empower, Enact!” on Friday, October 24th, 2008 taking place at the Hilton Chicago.
For over a decade the PNLE has been a place for nursing leaders to network, exchange ideas, and celebrate the accomplishments of our colleagues. The vision for this event is to showcase the impact of nursing leaders in shaping health care best able to meet the needs of people in Illinois. We invite you explore the PNLE past history to see what we've done and who we've honored throughout the years.
Last year we introduced the Pinnacle Leader Awards, allowing us to recognize the achievements of and hear wisdom from even more of the most committed and innovative nursing leaders. We will continue that tradition this year and will also celebrate the 11th Outstanding Illinois Nurse Leader. As always, we thank our Host Committee!
This year's keynote speaker, Dr. John Edward Hasse , will provide a truly unique perspective on leadership, helping us to envision, empower, and enact through his presentation “Leadership Lessons from the Jazz Masters. ” At first glance, jazz might seem an odd place to look for secrets of good leadership. But jazz masters—such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and Ella Fitzgerald—have been among our nation's most consistently daring, creative, and innovative professionals. Dr. Hasse has a background in business and jazz, and has led a number of endeavors for the Smithsonian Institution. He is a music historian, musician and award-winning author and record producer. He serves as Curator of American Music at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History, in Washington, D.C.
